  • Pasquotank County High School - Job Opening

Pasquotank County High School is accepting applications for a new director of bands. This school has a very supportive administration and booster parent organization. We have jazz band, percussion ensemble, guitar, and ukulele classes in addition to the standard marching/concert band classes. The boosters just purchased new marching uniforms and I have invested a lot of money into percussion and front ensemble gear the last few years. The program is “turn key” and ready for someone to come in and lead an excellent group of kids. There are several big fundraisers including a marching band competition that have great track records of supplying good revenue streams. Additionally, the program is supported by a trust fund that takes care of instrument repairs and new equipment purchases. Interested applicants should apply online through Elizabeth City Pasquotank Public Schools. (www.ecpps.k12.nc.us) You may contact me by email at joru60@gmail.com for further information. Employment application and resumes should be submitted via the applitrack system but I am happy to discuss any program specific questions you may have.

    Sincerely,

    John Russell

  • White Oak High School Job Opening

This past Monday I started the process of my retirement papers.  Since making my decision last May to announce that this would be my last year as Director of Bands as WOHS, it has certainly been a journey with many twist and turns.  But through it all I felt at a piece with the decision, which helped me to know that the Lord is preparing me for my next chapter in Service.  My 33 years of service in Education is not over, I will continue to be available where ever he leads for me to help others in Education.  Whether in Music, Technology or with support; I will be ready to serve.   I was asked what will I miss most by a member of the yearbook staff….a tough questions to answer as many things will be missed.  But at the heart of what I do are the students, I will miss seeing their daily growth in Music and as becoming responsible young adults.

Several people have asked about the position at WOHS.   The Band Positions at WOHS will move into a Co-Director positions.  Joshua Singleton the current associate director will be the Lead Director of Marching band and the other Co-Director position will be the Lead Director of the Concert Bands.  Each director will assist the others in their Lead tasks.  Both positions will share a lot of tasks and other things related to the program.  If you or you know of someone that would wish to get more information about the position and program, send email with resume to Principal Dr. Chris Barnes at Christopher.barnes@onslow.k12.nc.us, or Joshua.singleton@onslow.k12.nc.us or perry.ditch@onslow.k12.nc.us .

    Thoughtfully,
