What
is the purpose of Chief Judge Training?
The NCBA Marching Band committee has determined that in order to
continue to improve consistency from show to show in adjudication,
logistics, and overall expectations we must give better and more
detailed information to our main liaisons to the individual shows,
the Chief Judges. We will be providing a list of specific expectations
for the Chief Judge, a script for the judge’s meeting and
answering as many specific scenario questions as possible so that
our Chief Judge’s know exactly what is expected of them and
so that the Show Hosts do as well.
Who
should attend?
Anyone interested in serving as a Chief Judge for the 2009 NCBA
Marching Band season should plan to attend one of these sessions.
Certification will be required and may only be obtained at one of
these sessions. Show hosts or those interested in potentially hosting
may want to attend as well. In addition, band directors who participate
in NCBA shows and want to learn more about the behind the scenes
logistics are encouraged to attend also.
When
are the training sessions?
Session #1:
Wakefield High School Band Room – Raleigh, NC
Monday, June 15
5:00 – 7:30pm
Session #2:
Western Carolina University – Cullowhee, NC
University Center Theatre
Sunday, July 12
3:00 – 5:30pm
We
chose these two sites in an effort to serve the central/eastern
part of the state with session #1 and the western part of the state
with session #2. In addition, it is our hope that many of our participants
will be attending the WCU Summer Symposium and can arrive a little
early for our session prior to the beginning of the Symposium. More
info on the WCU Summer Symposium, which runs from July 12-16, can
be found at http://www.wcu.edu/prideofthemountains/pom/sumsymp.cfm
How
do I register and what is the cost?
There is no cost to attend either of these sessions. If you would
like to stay for the WCU Symposium, you must register and pay their
fee through their website. To register for our sessions, we ask
you simply email Joshua Potter at jpotter@wcpss.net so that we can
make sure we have enough supplies for everyone.
