​The North Carolina Bandmasters Association (NCBA)
Concert Band Music Performance Adjudication will:
- Provide a performance opportunity for students and directors that offers a critical assessment of the quality of their performances by highly qualified experts in band performance.
- Encourage participation in the only state-sanctioned event that provides a summative, standards-based assessment, designed to measure student performance as related to the goals, objectives, and grade-level competencies specified in the North Carolina Standard
Course of Study.
- Provide the opportunity for students and directors to perform for and learn from their peers in a formal concert venue.
- Provide a model that connects quality preparation with quality performance and supports the continued musical growth of students and directors
The Eastern District has three locations for MPA due to
​size of the district. See below for your assigned location.

Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Currituck, Dare, Edenton-Chowan, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Hallifax, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Nash, Northhampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell, Washington, Wilson
Central Site​

MPA Dates
North Site- March 18 & 19, 2025
Central Site- March 11 & 12, 2025

​*Contact your District MPA Chairperson or President if there are scheduling conflicts with your assigned site.*

Registration:

- Registration cost is $225 per band
- The Eastern District will waive the fee for any school that has not attended MPA in the past 4 years.
- Bands are also allowed to perform at MPA for comments only and not receive a formal rating.
*Updates
•You may only have five students playing the same instrument across multiple bands.
• Ensure your music selections are on the approved list.
• Music must be chosen from the same grade level or two adjacent grade levels.
• There are updates to the sight-reading music.
• During sight reading, directors will now be allowed to look at the score earlier.
• Changes have been made regarding who is permitted in the sight-reading room.
